The big story in the UFC this week is the aftermath of the Georges St. Pierre vs. BJ Penn fight from last weekend. Penn was unable to continue after four rounds of abuse last at UFC 94, however GSP's corner has been accused of rubbing Vasaline on the champ's back in between rounds, which is illegal and would have made it harder to BJ Penn to grapple with him. GSP's camp is pleading ignorance and claims any grease that was applied to his back was unintentional. Former welterweight champion Matt Hughes is now speaking out about the GSP-Vaseline saga with some startling comments from his official blog: I’m not the only one who has said that GSP felt greasy during a fight. I know Matt Serra has mentioned it and, even in their first fight, I think BJ said something. I’m not saying GSP did something wrong and I’m not saying that it would have changed any outcomes of any fights; but what I am saying is, for my last two fights against Georges, he felt greasy.

Maybe GSP is just a greasy guy. He definitely outclassed BJ by a mile in their fight. That sucked too because I bet $50 on BJ (because the odds were good), I had a feeling he was going to lose.

Could be, would he dare cheat this often?

I would. Competitive fighting is rough. Any advantage you can get you have to take. I'd be lubed up with KY jelly if I thought I could win and get away with it. It was a little vaseline, I think they're blowing it out of proportion. The fact that he feels greasy...who wouldn't be after sweating from fighting and warming up.

MMA is alot of mixed styles, including grappling, and if someone has a smalll amount of vaseline on their sweaty skin it makes it so much harder for their opponent to put holds on them, I've watched the fight, there was no reason for GSP to have any vaseline applied to him at any point in the breaks at any tme during the figyht also if you watch closely you will see the cuts man touch his fingers on to the vaseline, barely touch the face of GSP them rub his chest and back, after which whenever Penn tried to apply a hold he seemed to slip right off him, they do appear to have a point and this isn't the first grumblings about this practice either. And as for feeling greasy, after warming up you'd be sticky and claggy from the exercise not slippy and greasy
