The Undertaker has been busy recovering from surgery to repair his
torn
biceps. In today's The Coloradoan said that The Undertaker and a
partner
have begun buying $2.7 million dollars in real estate to plan and build
an
upscale office building.

The article said that The Undertaker is preparing for a post-wrestling
life with the venture. The Undertaker told the newspaper "(Real estate)
is
a new adventure for me". "I've done wrestling for 20 years; I know most
of
the answers."

The article also noted that The Undertaker isn’t expected to be back
from his surgery for five months. So it look’s like we will see The
Undertaker making a return around October.

WWE Considers Dropping Death Angle

Source: WrestlingObserver.com

Due to the timing of the death of Sherri Martel officials within WWE
were
highly considering dropping the Vince McMahon death angle quickly as
possible citing the taste and timing, and another school of thought
(that
most expect would win out) to keep going.

Speaking on the Vince McMahon death angle, WWE is auctioning off the
side
mirror from the limo they set on fire.

And now for our column of the week, this week enjoy a classic!

Sav's View- No More Suprises

Written by Sav

I have been a wrestling fan since i was 6, i am almost 23 now and have
seen
a lot of things come and go in WWF/E, i remember watching people like
the
Earthquake, Tatanka, the 1-2-3 kid on Raw, Superstars and all the shows
shown over here in the UK. I also changed as i became wiser and saw the
change the WWE was making from storylines that were mainly about
rivalry to
storylines which had twists and turns and which did not necessarily
need
the face to come ut on top in the end. The era of wrestling i remember
the
most is the attitude era, why do i remember this era so well, its got
to be
cuz the characters were so unique and stuff we had never seen before on
WWE
television, the storylines became a lot more risque as did the
charcters to
match them.

Never seen before had been the rule breaking rebel of Stone Cold Steve
Austin, the pure chaos antics of DX and Vinnie Mac doin all he could to
have everything his way. Ratings were at an all tiem hgh during this
period
as week after week cutting edge storylines were taking turns we never
expected, including Vince being the higher power just so he could
destroy
Austin. This was truly shocking television which made u want to watch
week
after week to see what they could do to top that and for a long time
they
did that all the time. Matches were more and more innovative with new
types
being introduced such as the brutal last man standing and I Quit
matches,
while also including matches just for fans pleasure such as Bra and
Panties. Vince realised soemthing cruical in my opinion that the
average
person needs to be shocked to be entertained, they need to know that
they
will see what they hope to see as well as seeing something they never
expected.

I look back on this period and then think about the standard of Raw and
Smackdown today, while the standard of wrestling is far greater the
whole
package seems to have dropped a grade or two, the first thing that
springs
to midn is why as they are not doing anything different. Thats where
the
problems lies, since Austin and McMahon how many similar fueds have we
seen
like that, Cena/Bischoff and Michaels/Vince being the two most recent
ones.
Another aspect is giving the fans what they want, in 98/99 what did the
fans want, they wanted Austin preferably with the WWE Title or him
chasing
it, this was compelling stuff cuz even tho we knew that Austin would
become
the champ he would have to go through hell and high water to get it and
when he did get it he would lose it soemwhere down the line. Look at
the
main champ at the moment in Cena, being booed out of every arena, if he
was
a heel i would say well doen but his not his meant to be a face. He has
held the title since last March for all but 3 weeks wheres the suprise
in
that its boring and predictable each week that Cena will retain.

The microphone work of the attitude era was brillaint as well as they
had
the best in Rock, Austin, Jericho to name just 3 while today the promos
cut
by the superstars lack the passion and put downs. I think only HBK and
HHH
can cut a decent promo these days but as DX are reforming those 2 will
be
cutting promos together so at least there will be a few decent promos
coming on Raw soon. On Smackdown there is a great lack of Microphone
talent
apart from JBL but even his mic work feels second rate most of the
time,
and his promos on Rey feel like he is repeating what he said to Eddie a
couple of years ago.

I also think what made the Attitude era was that most of the storylines
which did not have any title involved could have a great element of
unrealistically to them adding the to the unpredictability, this wasn't
exclusive to the non-title fueds but it was different to what we
normally
saw. Today Vince and the writers try and make most storylines as
realistic
as possible, and the out of the ordianry ones they go for are just to
far
off the radar to be enetertaining such as the boogeyman. We as fans
want to
be entertained whether it be after a hard day at work or college, we
want
to see storylines which make us laugh, get us interested and make us
wanna
get off r feet and cheer are heroes on but now when i watch WWE i find
its
just for the odd match or two that I think will be good. The only match
i
really wanted to see from Backlash 2006 was Shelton v RVD, why as they
are
2 athletes that do what i just said and get you off your asses and make
you
stand back in amazement. Thats one other thing I have noticed more and
more, many fans such as myself are more concerned about the match ups
and
sometimes dont care about the build up as they have lost faith with the
WWE
Writers.

What am i trying to say is no matter what we see these days on WWE
television chances are we have seen it all before and they are just
giving
us a slightly different version hoping that veryone will be fooled into
believeing its a brand new storyline. The lack of suprises also makes
me
not really care bout the superstars in the storylines but just miss all
of
the storylines and watch the key matches. This in my opinion is the
biggest
problem in the WWE, I feel it is a very stale product which offers
nothing
new in terms of stories and a lot fo the time promo's, the only saving
grace for them is the move towards a more wrestling show, with talents
such
as Shelton and RVD being given time to show off there array of talents.

Thank you for taking the time to read all this 'rant' but I have 1
question
for all of you who read this article, think what u think is wrong with
the
WWE and how woudl you fix it after a few replies I will post my
'fix-it' if
you can not pick them out of the column. Again thanx for reading and
God
Bless.
