I know I may be sounding cruel none the less I hope BP ends up going out of business over this at the very least financially crippled they deserve no less

Yes but what people have to realize is that most of our fuel comes from BP. If they lose their business, our fuel prices will most likely triple. It'll be so outrageous, we'll all be screwed.

If that where to happen it could be a blessing because it would push research onto other fuet sources and lead to a new type of engiine being built.

Who said anything about the government funding this? I just said research would be pushed is all.But if you think about it the government would have little choice becuase of public out cry so it wold either be fund the research or starting giving people rebates for fuel.

And to think they only get forced to pay what they can make in less than 2 or 3 days...

the whole situation has to forced by the public, with solar, wind and water power developed to a point where oil is no longer a priority. thermal energy is also a proven resource that is available. all of these are natural and free and have been pushed aside by big oil because they can not profit from them. there are plans on the internet that show how to build simple solar panals and windmills.............imagine if everyone builds these and get off the power grid, that would force something

Have a look at one of their old ads! From a BP advertisement in 1999:

that would be funny if it wasn't so damn tragic..............the thing that boggles my mind is with all this crude oil floating around and no one is scavenging it, is there no one with the capabilities of sucking it up and bringing it to a refinery to seperate it from the water, we are talking millions of gallons of free crude oil people [according to salvage laws] and that translates to millions of dollars, and thats in additional to the public acknowledgement for cleaning up the mess and all the great publicity they would get.

BP is doing that, and the proceeds are supposed to go for wildlife restoration I believe - but they're not getting all of it :(
