Alan wake the game that everybody has been waiting five years for but has it been worth the wait ?
Alan wake is an intense action thriller set in the fictional town of Bright Falls, washington
It follows a writer named Alan Wake who hasn't been able to write anything in over Two Years. So His wife Alice decides to bring him to the small town of Bright Falls to see if he can get his creative juices flowing again.
One night they have an argument & Alan storms out of the cabin they are staying in,The power goes out & Alice who has a fear of the darkness calls for Alan to come back, when Alan comes back in Alice is gone.Alan becomes trapped in a nightmare, when his latest work comes true word by word a book he cannot even remember writing is coming alive right before his very eyes. At night a dark & powerful being takes over the town of Bright Falls & it's residents. Wakes only protection is the light.During the daytime things are back to normal in Bright Falls.
During gameplay Alan has to find his books missing pages,Outrun police & use the light & it's surrounding objects. & Find his missing wife Alice.
Alan who has never used a firearm before is forced to go out into the dead dark of the night to unravel the mystery of who has his book ? & why is everything that has been written on the pages coming true ?,where is his wife Alice ? & more importantly why can he not remember writing it ?.
During gameplay you are on the edge of your seat & you will be forced to go into more often then not deep dark forests where you will hear the residents of Bright Falls talking in a strange voice & then appear out of nowhere to come & attack you, this is the darkness trying to keep you from finding out the truth, the residents of bright falls who are trying to attack you are called the Taken as the darkness controls them,The only way to defeat them is to shine your flashlight at them until they are not invulnerable to gun fire then shoot them until they Disintegrate.
The game has a lost or 24 feel to it as the game is split up into six episodes & after you complete one & begin the next one it would come up on the screen like 24 does Previously on Alan Wake & it will show you what happened,in that sense it is good for someone who hasn't watched you play it from the start & wants to get caught up to what is going on.
All in All the levels are varied & the way the game uses the technique of T.V show presentation to keep a player & a person watching the player constantly reminded of what happened is a very well designed technique that works & the game is done so spectacularly that it is hard to put down once you have picked it up.
I felt truly emerged in the game world & as a player Truly connected to Alan even when the residents of Bright Falls thought it was a nightmare Alan was having I still believed in the character.
So In my truly Honest Opinion,Yes I think Alan Wake was worth the five year wait as they have really had a large amount time to make their vision come to life & it is very rare in today's standard to see a game that has been truly designed with absolute quality & story telling that immerses the player into their world.
My Rating for Alan Wake is a 10 out 10.
Thanks for Reading.
